Coworking Silversquare North in Brussels officially opened with mini-showcase by Lous and The Yakuza
Artist honours Silversquare on its 15th anniversary
10 March 2023 - Last night Silversquare North, the coworking space next to the Brussels Canal, was officially opened and this was celebrated in an exclusive way. None other than the artist Lous and The Yakuza, who is also the creative mind behind the interior of the coworking space, kicked off the celebrations with a mini showcase. The 7,350 square metres building has been partially open since April 2022 and is 75% occupied so far. It was even a double celebration for Silversquare as it celebrated its 15th anniversary.
Fairytale forest
In addition to the birthday celebration, the festive evening marked the official opening of Silversquare North. This new coworking space was designed by a woman who captures the imagination as much as her creations do: Lous and The Yakuza took the stage right away and welcomed the guests to her 'enchanted forest' in her signature style. This coworking space is indeed inspired by a fairytale and the result of Lous’ overflowing imagination.
"I can hardly believe that the coworking is really completely finished today," says Lous and The Yakuza. "The mushroom forest, for example, is even more stunning than in the photos. That makes me genuinely happy because it plays an important part in the fairytale I wrote, which is the basis for the interior of Silversquare North. It looks exactly the same in reality as I imagined it in my fairytale".
"We're delighted to celebrate the official opening of Silversquare North, our venue created in collaboration with Lous & The Yakuza. The inauguration of this new branch in Brussels was a success: less than a year after its partial opening in April 2022, the occupancy rate is at 75%. We're looking forward to the summer, as we have installed a petanque court on our private terrace for our tenants. Let's hope for good weather so they can enjoy it," says Valérie Vincx, Sales Leader at Silversquare.
Almost 5,000 customers
Fifteen years ago, two Brussels entrepreneurs, Axel Kuborn and Alexandre Ponchon, had the dream of creating a place to support like-minded people in entrepreneurship. Fast forward to 2023, Silversquare has ten coworking spaces with a total of more than 46,000 square metres of office space. From Brussels, the Belgian pioneer of coworking has grown into a national company with branches in Liège, Luxembourg, Zaventem and soon Antwerp and Louvain-la-Neuve.
In 15 years, Silversquare has built up a customer base of no less than 4,700 members spread across 1,770 companies and employs 62 people who give their best every day to do justice to the "most exciting square metres in town'.
"I'm delighted that we're celebrating our 15th anniversary with the grand opening of Silversquare North in the presence of Lous and The Yakuza. The unique character of Silversquare has taken on many different faces over these 15 years and will continue to evolve in the future," said Alexandre Ponchon, one of Silversquare's founders. Axel Kuborn, Silversquare's other founder, added: "I think I speak for both of us when I say that we're immensely proud of where we're today. Something we would not have dared to predict 15 years ago. Back then, we had a common dream and plunged into this adventure together. But I could never have imagined that 15 years later we'd have ten locations, that we'd be able to service so many customers, and that we'd have dozens of great employees. We're doing everything we can to keep the Silversquare family growing in the years to come!"
Future plans
In 2023, Silversquare has no intention of slowing down. By the end of the year, the new locations in Antwerp and Louvain-la-Neuve should bring the total number of coworking spaces to twelve. Silversquare Antwerp, due to open this year, has the Antwerp Tower as its home base. The interior was designed by world-renowned Belgian designer Stephanie D'heygere. Inspired by the typical offices of the 1980s and 1990s, the golden age of corporate kitsch, she mischievously named the project "Officeland".
