Lous and The Yakuza presents co-working location Silversquare North
A journey through the fantastic world of fairy tales
Two years ago, Lous and the Yakuza captured many musical hearts with her debut album Gore. This summer, another talent possessed by this popular 25-year-old singer-songwriter will be revealed, when Silversquare opens a new co-working space designed by the rising star herself. The interior is based on a fairy tale written and illustrated by this very artist. Visitors will be amazed by the giant toadstool forest, indoor garden, and a gallery displaying drawings by Lous & The Yakuza. Silversquare North is located in Befimmo’s Quatuor building, in Brussels’ North district.
Close to Centre Pompidou
In September this year, Silversquare will open its ninth co-working spot. The co-working pioneer, which has been active in Belgium and Luxembourg since 2008, is moving into the Quatuor building (60,000 m²) belonging to its parent company Befimmo, in Brussels’ North district. Close to the canal and the neighbouring art hub KANAL – Centre Pompidou. The spot has been named Silversquare North and covers an area of 7,000 m². After Lionel Jadot, Lady Jane, KRJST Studio, MANIERA … it’s now Lous and The Yakuza’s turn to let her creativity loose on the interior of a Silversquare co-working location.
A fantastic world of fairy tales
Lous & The Yakuza is a big hit. With her debut album Gore she rocketed to stardom and she is now making a detour into the wondrous world of interior design. Working with the architects at Silversquare she is adding the finishing touches to Silversquare North.
“I never thought I would design a building at the age of 23. However, when Silversquare asked me to participate in this adventure I did not hesitate for a moment. Above all, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to be creative, without limits. When I look back at the whole process, this has been a unique experience. And I have really caught the bug for interior design. One day I would love to design a castle”, laughs Lous.
“I am fascinated by fashion, eccentric interiors and fairy tales”, says Lous. “And the interior of Silversquare North is inspired by a fairy story I once wrote and illustrated myself. The toadstool forest – made by people from Tomorrowland - is an important element in the story and will feature prominently in the co-working space. When seeing this, along with ‘Acirfa’s’ castle, complete with sculpture garden and birdcage, visitors are sure to daydream and will be able to forget the daily grind. Which is exactly why I still read fairy tales and stories every day, in order to remain creative, and close to my own child”.
The eternal bond with artists
Since its foundation, Silversquare has always focused on unique co-working locations and designs. “We are entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. We believe in the power of inspiring surroundings, which stimulate further creativity, innovation, and better entrepreneurship. Our story continues with Lous and The Yakuza: by attracting local talent and indulging their creativity”, explain Axel Kuborn and Alexandre Ponchon, as the founders of Silversquare.
The Quatuor project
In addition to Silversquare, Quatuor will also accommodate many other kinds of companies. This spot will be multipurpose, featuring shops, restaurants, a bank, fitness facilities, showers and lockers. One third of the underground car park is for electric cars. The first tenants moved in last summer. This summer, it’s Silversquare’s turn.
